Fire Chief Staffing Memo 2024
10/12/2024 - 0.33MB
The Fire Chief submitted this memo highlighting the severe shortage of available staff, and the deficit we are at compared to other communities. Look at this for a very data driven, objective position of why additional personnel are needed to meet the needs of the City of Lebanon.
Overlapping Calls Leave us At Risk
10/11/2024 - 0.15MB
One of the biggest concerns we have is the amount of overlapping calls happening more and more frequently. Any time there is just two overlapping calls we leave the city with just 1 or 2 or no firefighters available to respond to any additional emergency. This overlapping volume continues to rise, and the staffing to account for this has not been added. The graph illustrates that on average this happens almost four times a day!
Staffing and Emergency Call Volume since 2007
10/11/2024 - 0.10MB
This graph shows you in 2007 we were staffed adequately. As our emergency call volume has grown about 60% we have only increased staffing by 4%.
Calls per Firefighter
10/11/2024 - 0.10MB
This is a simple graph that highlights how much more we ask a firefighter to do in the city of Lebanon versus every other similar community in the state. Presently responding to as much a 60% more than the average based on our staffing. This number continues to rise. Notice we have included 2024 predicted values.
Lebanon Municipal Financial Analysis
10/11/2024 - 0.34MB
This study conducted by the International Association of Fire Fighters shows that the City of Lebanon is financially stable, and has adequate unreserved fund balances to add additional staffing, possibly with no change to the tax rate!
MMA Study
10/11/2024 - 7.42MB
This is a comprehensive department study that was conducted in 2008, by order of the city council. Staffing recommendations were made in this recommending a phased approach of increasing shift size continuously since 2008. None of those recommendations have been followed, and highlight the deficit we are at now.
